Today’s race was a lot more difficult than yesterday’s at the St-Barth Cata Cup due to strong winds.

After pushing back the morning race to 2 p.m. due to 30 knots winds at the tip of Colombier, the race committee decided to stick to only one race in the afternoon.

Race number 5 took place in St-Jean Bay with a race around the Toc-Verts and Bonhomme islands.

In summary, ten boats abandonned, some capsized and others had breakage.

At the end of the day, a dual between the two superpowers Cammas and Lagravière that ended with ODP capsizing and a second consecutive win for Morgan Lagravière and Arnaud Jarlegan.

They said:

Maxime Loiselle (Fille des Iles) : on their satisfactory 4th place

« We are very happy with our race. The conditions were difficult, especially with the different points of sail that we had to make. We had a very good start, we were 3rd at the first buoy and 4th at the second. We were able to maintain our spot until the end of the race. Overall, we are satisfied with our speed and the risks that we took to finish just behind the two Freds. »

Mike Easton (Remax 4) : on his capsize

« It was going very well, we were second behind John Casey at the top mark and we were passing him at mark number 2 and 3 and on the way to mark 3 we launched off the biggest wave that we have ever come across. I probably went 6 feet from the boat and came crashing back down. We came back, rode the boat, we were about 10th going downwind trying to play it safe and then the boat started to fall over and that was the end of it. »
