St Barth Cata Cup welcomes six new partners

And we are off! The 10th edition was launched yesterday after months of preparation. We would like to thank all of those who contributed to making this edition a reality. Among them, Tradewind Aviation, an airline that flies over the islands of San Juan, St.-Barts, Nevis, Antigua and St-Thomas in the Caribbean and serves the Northeast. Tradewind Aviation joins the St Barth Cata Cup as a challenger boat partner and will also be flying in one of the bands that will enliven the evenings on the docks of Gustavia. “The St Barth Cata Cup is a thrilling event for both tourists and locals and it’s an exciting kick-off to the high season!” explains Grace Richardson, marketing manager for Tradewind Aviation. Thanks to the company’s generous contribution to the event, the harbour will sway to the rhythms of San Juan Habana on Friday, November 17. The island’s residents are invited to join in the festivities.

Before the party gets underway, the racers and their guests will be warmly welcomed at EDDYS for dinner on Thursday and Saturday. “We’re very happy to take part in this first event on the island since Hurricane Irma. It’s a pleasure for us to invest our energy in the St Barth Cata Cup and we want to contribute to this lovely organization,” said Brigitte Stakelborough. Among the crews from St-Barth taking part in the regatta, her son Mahé will be pairing up with David Guiheneuc.

When the curtain falls on the 10th edition and the winning crew is announced, the celebrations will move to Saline and chef Jean-Claude Dufour’s restaurant. L’ESPRIT is an essential gourmet stop, with an idyllic decor located steps from one of the finest beaches on the island. The evening will be the highpoint of a memorable week on land and on water, and will close the 10th edition of the international regatta.

Challenger boat partners

Turbé Car Rental, Alu Roller and Construction Project Manager (CPM), local St-Barts businesses, also got on board with this year’s event as challenger boat partners. For CPM, it’s the ambiance and the human relationships that attracted them to the event. “Our interest in sponsoring a boat in the St Barth Cata Cup is to be able to participate in our own way and with our capabilities in this beautiful race on these magnificent waters. We enjoy the sailing environment, which corresponds to our values and our personal passions.” It is for this same reason that Turbé Car Rental and Alu Roller embarked on the St Barth Cata Cup adventure.

AMC: For the love of sailing

Food distributor Alain Magras & Cie (AMC) has been active on the island for many generations. In its early stages, Alain Magras himself was trading between the islands, and that is how sailing became part of his life. Now with three stores — in Gustavia, St-Jean and Lorient — the family business tapped in to its innovative spirit and adapted to the needs of residents.  For Natacha Budin, this edition of the St Barth Cata Cup is welcomed in view of the recent events: “AMC is happy to partner with the St Barth Cata Cup because it’s a wonderful local initiative and one the island can be proud of, especially this year, since it’s the first sporting event since Irma, making this 10th edition eagerly anticipated.”

Thanks to all of our partners, and may the regatta be memorable for everyone!
