IORDANIS PASCHALIDIS: FRIENDS, WINDS, WAVES AND SAILING

Iordanis Paschalidis has three Olympic Games in a Tornado to his credit (Sydney, Athens and Beijing). He has been a member of the Greek national team since 1985 and won several national championships between 1988 and 2009 on a 470 and a Tornado.

Iordanis, whose nickname is Dannyboy, is also the youngest Greek sailor to cross the Atlantic Ocean on a 42-footer, in 1997. He has six consecutive podium finishes in the European championships a victory of the Worlds in 2011 in a Tornado, with his teammate Kostas Trigonis.

This will be the second St Barth Cata Cup for Paschalidis: he will be teaming up with his friend Gustav Dryssen, with whom he also sailed in 2012.

“What I like about the St Barth Cata Cup is its friendly atmosphere, the warm welcome we receive and, obviously, the sailing conditions, which make this a unique race. St-Barth is one of those places where you can sail under all kinds of wind and sea conditions: waves, calm waters or powerful winds. This is why it attracts some of the world’s top catamarans.”
