AUBERGE DE LA PETITE ANSE : A PLACE OF HISTORY

L’Auberge de la Petite Anse has been welcoming lucky crews and family of the St Barth Cata Cup for the past 8 years. Founded by Mr Gréaux Florville in the 70s, the perenity of the inn is now in the hands of his son Suger. Interview.

Tell us the story of Auberge de la Petite Anse.

My father was a man who adored his island and was always involved in the social, economic and political life of St-Barth for a better future while keeping his traditions, culture and above all, his heritage. We - his children and grandchildren - inherited this from him. With the mass arrival of tourists in the 70s, especially Americans, he founded the Auberge de la Petite Anse. Benefiting from the beautiful landscape of Petite Anse, he set out to build 16 authentic bungalows where nature is able to flourish and where peace and tranquility remain.

Why did your partner with Cata Cup ?

Being myself a native of the Island, my passion for nautical sports and espcially sailing has always been a priority. I started with Optimist, then 420 and ended with more traditional sailing. Thanks to my cousin Eric Blanchard, I also had the chance to try a Beach Cat. I think it was a Prindle 18, if I am not mistaken. I was lucky enough to take part in the Heineken Regatta with him. It’s one of the main reasons of my association with the St Barth Cata Cup each year.
